To merely know about technology and science gives someone the ability to practise it and preach it - but not often the talent to develop it and move it forward.

That talent comes from passion and commitment. The passion to believe in something - say, the right for every child everywhere to be healthy, and the commitment to work at it, and work at it, until a practical, reasonable solution is at hand.
